Four major hikes. Three UNESCO-listed destinations. One week inside Europe's most isolated mountain culture.
Based on group of 14. Minimum 4 pax. 3–4 star accommodation with breakfast. Free time for lunches to explore local food.
Svaneti is its own world. Isolated for centuries in the Caucasus high country, this region kept its own language, stone tower architecture, and traditions while empires rose and fell below. The Mongols didn't break Svaneti. The Ottomans didn't break Svaneti. The Soviets didn't break Svaneti.
Our 8-day tour combines four major hikes — Shdugra Waterfall, Mulakhi Valley, Chubedishi Mountain, Chalaadi Glacier — with visits to Ushguli (UNESCO), and cultural stops at Prometheus Cave, Uplistsikhe, and Mtskheta along the route. This is our most physically demanding hiking tour, and the most rewarding.
Depart Tbilisi. Visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (UNESCO) in Mtskheta. Continue to Uplistsikhe — the ancient rock-hewn town carved into cliffs. Free time for lunch. Overnight in Kutaisi.
Morning at Kutaisi's farmers' market. Explore Prometheus Cave with illuminated stalactite chambers. Free time for lunch in Zugdidi. Drive through dramatic mountain scenery to Mestia — the cultural capital of Svaneti.
Drive into the picturesque Becho Valley. Hike toward Shdugra Waterfall, following the Dolra River through alpine meadows with panoramic Caucasus peaks.
Hike through the scenic Mulakhi Valley, known for its traditional Svan towers and sweeping views of the Greater Caucasus range. Peaceful alpine meadows and authentic mountain villages along the route.
Drive to Ushguli — Europe's highest continuously inhabited village, UNESCO listed. Visit the Tower of Love. Hike up Chubedishi Mountain for panoramic Enguri Valley views.
Hike to Chalaadi Glacier through forested trails along the Mestiachala River. Free time for lunch. Visit the monumental Enguri Dam — one of Europe's tallest arch dams. Continue to Kutaisi.
Drive to Chiatura and visit the cliffside Mghvimevi Monastery. Photo stop at the iconic Katskhi Pillar — a church built atop a 40m natural rock column. Stop at Jvari Monastery above the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers.
