How Many Days Do You Need in Georgia?

Planning a route through Georgia on a terrace above Tbilisi

Georgia is small on the map but slow on the road. Mountain roads, photo stops and long lunches all take time, so the honest answer is: more days than you think. Here is how we’d plan it.

2 to 3 days

Enough for Tbilisi plus one big day trip, or a short mountain escape. Our 2-day Kazbegi tour gives you two of the country’s best hikes and one night in the mountains.

4 to 5 days

Pick one region and do it properly. Kazbegi in 4 or 5 days lets you add the Truso Valley and Khada Gorge, or try a 5-day wine tour through Kakheti with Mtskheta on the way back.

7 to 8 days

The classic first trip: Tbilisi, Kakheti wine country, the Kazbegi mountains and UNESCO Mtskheta. That is exactly our Georgia Without Filters, 8 days.

10 to 14 days

Now you can add the west and Svaneti. Svaneti alone needs at least 5 to 6 days because the drive from Tbilisi takes most of a day each way. Our 13-day tour covers the whole country at a comfortable pace, and the 8-day Svaneti tour focuses on hiking.

Our rule of thumb

  • Add one buffer day if you are hiking, in case the weather moves a hike.
  • Avoid planning a long drive on your arrival day.
  • Two regions in a week is relaxed; four is busy.

Tell us how many days you have and we’ll suggest the best fit.
